This breaks my heart, but also renews my gratitude for the rescue person who gathered up my beloved Pippin - about to give birth to puppies - from the side of the road. We adopted one another 14 years ago, and she is still my heart-pup, sharing every day and night with me, contented and at peace, all traumas from the past long forgotten. How anyone could have abandoned this sweetheart is beyond my comprehension. Long live Rescue.
