SPRING!

My "problem" plants and trees are now gone, and I spent most of the morning with a chainsaw, and using a borrowed stump grinder...but the Thuja occidentalis Pyramidalis --um Pyramidal Arborvitae are gone! And that dreaded Ilex aquifolium (English Holly--blech), and unfortunately the Thuja plicata (Western Red Cedar) that was too close to the house, and the Pinus sylvestris(Scots Pine) that was one sided because of those horrid Arborvitae, are also gone.

By the way, I'm not using the scientific names to show off, I'm using them so I don't forget! :D

But, I'm replacing them all, with either native plants or something rather useful. :D Of course, that's gonna have to wait until we get back from the diving trip. :D

Ceanothus integerrimus--Native Mountain Lilac--blue flower :D Though, I do like the white as well. (To replace the holly)

Vitex angus-castus -Chastetree -to replace the Pine (I have another one in the back, but I adore this tree/shrub!)

Callicarpa dichotoma" Early Amethyst": Early Amethyst Beauty Berry. where the arborvitae were. I so love this variety of the Beautyberry bush. It's got a really beautiful spread that is very much like a fountain. (For those interested in herbs---the leaves make for GREAT insect replant--especially blood suckers. :D And the berries are just so gorgeous in the fall.

Now I'm off to do laundry for the trip! ;D

Have fun! HAPPY SPRING!

PS: for those in womenheal--we have been getting a bit more attention in the past few days. You may have noticed a few new additions in the group! Now, if we can just get us all to post our hellos and nice to meet yas out there.
For those of you that have...YOU ROCK! :D

Not that those that haven't yet don't rock--you rock too...but slightly less hard??? :D
