Crawfish Festival weekend one

Apr 20, 2009 11:21

We went with friends from Louisiana to the Crawfish Festival at the Coliseum on Friday evening. We arrived about 7 PM. After we walked around checking out the food and other vendors, we all settled on crawfish plates, which were about $10 each. We ate crawfish and listened to some cajun artist while we waited for the headliner we were waiting for, Grand Funk Railroad.

The band was worth waiting for. The first 4 songs they did I did not remember, but the rest of the show was rocking funk from most of the 4 decades the band has been playing! They ended the concert with their top-rated song, We're An American Band. valiant_200 owns one of the limited edition gold vinyl 45! He bought it when he was a kid.

After the show, we went home and had a few more drinks, then crashed. Saturday, the weather looked overcast and threatening most of the day. We decided to stay home after our dinner of steaks and zucchini on the grill with baked potatoes and key lime cheesecake. If the weather had been better, we'd have gone out in John's convertible.

Yesterday, the weather finally cleared, so we took a ride in the convertible to the outlet mall, where a new store was having a grand opening. The new store was unimpressive, but the one next door is where I did some damage to my credit card. We also stopped at Harry & David, where we got some Very Cherry salsa and Jalapeno and Tomato queso, as well as a jar of their 4-cheese queso and some pastel malted milk balls.

Our friends had to head back to Louisiana, but we went out again in the convertible to another shop. When we got home, we cooked some burgers on the grill, then I helped John set up some scaffolding behind the garage, where he needs to fix some Katrina damage. We also did a little cleanup in the garage, and I installed the last snap on the boot for the convertible.

It was a fun and productive weekend. 'Til next time...
