So, firstly, my bike pedal fell off and I am having GOOD TIMES coming up with a way to keep it on so I can use my bike and not waste half an hour walking to class. Secondly, I checked my transcript and Lyn Thoman hasn't input that I've been exempt from Comp I yet. This is bad, because I need to apply to the education program before October and I need to have Comp I and II complete. If I start e-mailing the English department now, I MIGHT get an answer by October. Ha. ha. ha.
I predicted both these things would happen. I'm like psychic or something.
Because this seems like a waste of an entry, I will probably update later with tidings of great joy this semester's classes.
Edit: Tuesday-Thursday Classes
My first day of classes (last Thursday) was quite horrifying because I was exhausted and not really back into the 'swing of things' yet, so I was dreading today. Thus far, Tues-Thurs classes are my days from hell, but today wasn't nearly as tiring as last Thursday.
My first class is an 8:30, "The Holocaust". My professor is a rabbi or something, and he kind of acts like Alfred Molina in Fiddler on the Roof. He can be extremely funny. So far, his class is really interesting. Right now we're just covering the history of the Jews in Europe, from the 100's BC to the 1900's and WWII AD.
Second class was "Postwar America: 1945 to the Present", which is taught by my adviser (who actually recognizes me, whoot!). It's okay so far. We only discussed briefly the effects of WWII on the United States and it's kind of all stuff I know already (role of women, economic implications, etc). It'll get better, I think. Only it's in THE CLASSROOM FROM HELL, aka, the classroom where I had "History of Ancient Greece". The room is packed and organized in the most bizarre manner, with lab tables lining the outside of the room and some random desks shoved in there. Jonah and Brie are in my class. :)
Apparently, it is also the hottest classroom on the planet Earth. Uugh.
Third class, which I am going to attend at 3:30, is Vinson's "History of Ancient Egypt". I had "The Vin" for "History of Ancient Greece". He is an interesting person. I took his class expecting it would require pretty much no reading, like the Greece class, but he's changed the syllabus. We used to only have three short papers and a final paper, with a vocab oriented midterm and final. He's eliminated the small papers and now requires a page of typed notes from the readings we do for homework. Which sucks because I used to only read for the mini-papers I chose to do. And now I have to read...all the time. Which is kinda hard, with all these history classes.
I had two classes yesterday, "Intro to Drawing and Design" and "Imperial Russia". So far I really like my Imperial Russia prof., but I'm not too sure about Intro to Drawing. We have to buy a crap-load of art supplies and actually put in an effort and stuff. Meanwhile, I'm looking forward to just getting the class over and done with because I am not an art major and I kinda suck at art.
Gaah. We have to buy like glue and pencils and two sketchbooks (one 18x24!!!WTF!!!) and erasers and a bunch of other crap. I have to run to the bookstore early tomorrow to get these things because I'm too hot to run out now before Ancient Egypt. And besides...then I'd have to cart my HUGE 18x24 NOTEBOOK to class...and all the way back to Lenape.
It sucks to live on the ass-end of campus. Oh, but the AC is amazing.
I think I will shower before class. Indeed, indeed...
