Micah in the city
it is now confirmed after an exchange of friendster messages.
after being assured of its reality last night, i texted clara:
confirmed na! Micah's here na.
"parang The Buzz lang ah," clara replied the morning later,
so what's the fuss with Micah being back here? and where did she go to anyway?
Micah is a college friend who went to Japan after graduation with his "honey" to be with her mom. after more than half a year, she's now back here. next month will be her birthday. i am expecting some treats. and of course, a regular dose of gossips as well. is she now married with Kuya Joseph? hmmm... that is yet to be known.

recovery period
about two weeks ago, Ryan, my graduate course friend, skipped our 8pm class to go home to attend an emergency. his mom was brought at the FEU hospital, wherein his mom was said to be positive for tumor.
since then, ryan was not attending school because he has to attend to her mom instead. Ryan being the eldest child in the family, and his father in America makes him the man of the house. obviously, everything about his mother is his responsibility. add to that, i am supposing on this, ryan is his mom's fave child.
ryan was telling me about filing an LOA (leave of absence), which i discouraged him to do. it's just two weeks before the semester ends. all of his months' worth of educational labor will bear nothing if he filed an LOA because if ever he enroll again, he'll have to repeat the whole first year, first semester.
his mother was operated last morning. as ryan told me, her mom's spinal cord was thinning. her bones needs to be cleaned and repaired. it is not tumor, not cancer too. it's just a disease.
she's now confined at the same hospital, whic will last for three weeks. the recovery process begins. she'll be fine, i'm sure of that. this Wednesday, Rhea and i will come visit her at the hospital after our examination in Political Law.

the death of a mother
months ago, Vintage's mother died after seven days of confinement at the Chinese General Hospital.
her death was simple. one afternoon, while she was chatting with a friend, her head ached. she was brought at the said hospital where she was diagnosed as having aneurysm.
she could still be alive if not for the stupidity of an intern who read he x-ray wrongfully. if the intern read it correctly, Vintage's family would have her transferred at the UST hospital and operated as soon as possible. but they were not given that opportunity. when the real doctor read the x-ray, it was found out that the veins were already damaged and that there was so little that can be done.
the last few hours of Vintage's unconscious mother was a spent on a hospital bed. her love ones were around the bed looking at her, but she can't see them. she might not even know they're there around her. they knew that she will have to go. her life line was charted.
her dextrose became her hour glass. the liquid in the tube was like the sand. from the upper vessel to the lower, the grains were falling slowly but continuously. her family had no other choice but to accept the fact that when the liquid sustaining her life in bed ran out, her spirit would have to depart from her body as well. and that's what happened hours after the last liquid was sipped through her veins.
the liquid supplied her life.
the last drop became her last breath.

Vintage and her family easily accepted the painful fact that the light of the home is physically gone. they moved on with their lives, living as Tita would have preferred them to.

two more nights and the examination will begin.
as Atty. Gonzales told hours ago in his class, "sleepless night."
i hope i can make it through the next semester...
