Does anyone else get sleep paralysis? It's a state between sleep and awake where your mind wakes up before your body. Not really a nightmare because technically you're 'awake' but unable to move and possibly in a delusional state. It's the condition that they believe the incubus/succubus myths originate from. I've had it on and off for years but just lately the hallucinations that come with it have become more substantial. As in actual figures rather than just movement or say a hand reaching out. Usually its more sounds, like sirens or laughing anyway. Anyone who doesn't understand a thing i'm on about will probably think i'm a complete crackpot of course but such things fascinate me. The problem is, they just seem so damn real and i'd love to know what causes them.
Talking to my mother she says it just feels like i am 'awake and in my room' and that i am in fact asleep and its just a nightmare. That's not quite right though, because as an example the night before last i had an episode where i was woke up suddenly but being unable to move. There was a figure standing in the corner of the room which, although it didn't move, felt wrong and i screamed, anyway my sister who sleeps in the room as well reached over and tried to calm me down but i still couldn't move and the figure did not disappear for several minutes. She verified everything she said and did afterwards so i must have been awake and not just dreaming.
Oh i don't know, perhaps i am just a fruitcake hehe.
