As if November wasn't a depressing enough month

Fun reading.

More fun reading.

How can some people attach such overblown importance to symbols (wearing black armbands, cancelling games, lowering the national flag...) is beyond me. Everything seems equally petty to me when someone has died. A pretext, you say? ...Oh.

Plus, there’s a false binary here that really gets on my nerves. Also it makes Clarence Seedorf and Gigi Buffon look heartless, and I don't like that, either. Like, if you don’t wear a black armband, or don’t stop the game, it means you don’t care? There is a whole range of possible responses. Keeping your grief inside your heart and going on with your day is a perfectly valid one. Actually, that's what is expected from most of us common folk when we lose a loved one. Suck it up and go back to work.

As usual, I don't know, and it makes me dizzy.
