I just had a wonderful experience. Today seems tobe moving day (3 trucks so far just today, not counting the rest of the week) and we have some really neat people moving in on our block. at least one new teacher, and an older chinese (I think-their last name is chang) couple, who speak fluent Japanese. I had a whole (though incredibly rusty and stilted) conversation in Japanese. It was great, and I might have an in for real japanese food. Also I could tell I was just starting to permanently lose my Japanese language utility. Now I need to get out my textbooks and practice. First I need to find my textbooks. an I really need to review my hirigana so I can use the translator again. Or I need to get a good dictionary for English speakers, which I shoud have done a while ago. This couple both used to be teachers which is really cool. this might turn out to be really neat if I can talk with them on a semi-regular basis. I can't believe how much came back in just half an hour. This is really cool. I also started all my classes this week, and one especially will be amazing. I also got a membership in the school gym (not included for grad students, but it is cheaper than a normal gym-200 for 12 months) and did a real workout. I did at least 10 push/pull/lift/whatevers per machine except one that hurt like pain not like effort and sore. Then I did 20 minutes on a recliner bike then 10 more minutes on an eliptical. the best part is I am only mildly sore today, I thought I would feel dead. and then today (workout was yesterday) I helped one of the new sets of neighbors move in. If I can get myself on a schedule and keep it for a month, I think I will reward myself with an ipod or equivalent. I am very excited. I already have quite a bit of homework, and though none of it is due till tuesday, I have already started some of it (which is a really big deal for me) I have a ton of reading. Time to get to it.
Yay Japanese conversation with neighbors. :-)
