my brother got married on tuesday.
Today I congradulated my old coach and her new wife.
I watche two hours of first comes love on LOGO.
Someday I want to get married
not a civil union
why does it have to have a different name/meaning?

Because you don't have the same rights in a civil union that you have in a marriage. i.e. the rights to visit your partner in the hospital, create funeral arrangements, the right to assets of your partner without a will, citizenship (risk of deportation otherwise) if your partner is not a US citizen, adoption, social security benefits, pension rights, etc.

Washington just passed a "domestic-partnership" law which actually gives us some of these rights. But still, our rights are still not all there. :-)

Yeah, I know the difference between civin union and marriage...it was more of why can't we have those rights kinda thing.
Good for washington, maybe I'll just have to move there.
