I'm not sure if anyone here will be interested, but I thought I'd mention it anyway. The Government have been re-writing their planning policies for what seems like forever, and it has now been release:
Planning Policy Statement 5: Planning for the Historic Environment Now, I must admit I've not yet had time to read it all the way through. But what I do find insteresting is something that someone else actually pointed out to me. The word "Archaeology" only appears once, under the following section: ANNEX 1: CANCELLED PLANNING POLICY GUIDANCE
I have to say, I have my reservations about the new policy. Although it does look as though it falls under the category of 'Heritage Assets' and most of that section appears very similar to PPG16...

BBC story they were putting out. Which links to some fairly good photos from the staff on site. I'm always tickled when our projects hit the media - normally long after all teh site staff have finished and moved onto other things.
