I've been woefully behind in my posting, and you can thank David Allen for that. I recently read Getting Things Done and have been on a massive kick to get more organized. One result of this is that I can finally see the top of my dresser again, and another foot-high stack of old mail, magazines, and to-do lists from 2004 has been dispensed with. I used to cringe every time I walked past that desk, and now it's become a source of joy to look where that junk used to be and see absolutely nothing.

One of the random errands I've meant to do for years is take care of the "Lienholder on record" designation that's been on my registration despite the fact that I've paid off my car. This involved using a safety deposit box for the first time, which was neat and made me feel all grown-up. (My wife was the one who put my title in the box, in case you were wondering.) It also involved a heart-stopping moment when the the Department of Licensing clerk saw the documents I had in hand, exclaimed, "No more car payments!", and cheerfully starting ripping things off of my title. I think she had a slightly different attitude about titles considering that she probably deals with dozens of them a day and I've looked at mine perhaps twice in my life.

Anyway, I'll try to get caught up on my postings soon, but my energy is still largely consumed with eradicating whatever areas of chaos I can find in the house. (Step-kids are exempt from this process.) This is before I tackle the scary vortex that is the file system on my computer.
