Gabriel appeared out of nowhere, as per his usual, but the oddest part about his appearance was the expression on his face: confusion, curiosity, but mostly just the utter cluelessness that he exuded from the situation. Like he not only didn't know what he was doing, but where (or when) he was doing it. Like this was all new to him, or maybe like he didn't quite know or understand what he'd managed to do.

He spotted Dean and immediately brightened up with a smile. "So I did find you!" Except...as soon as Gabriel said that he realized something was off, and frowned thoughtfully. He seemed to peer deeply into Dean's essence to search for what he was looking for. What he found surprised him. "Well that backfired... I really can't find you with those sigils on."

As if the sudden feeling of having someone else in the room with him wasn't odd enough, hearing the voice it belonged to immediately caused the soldier to turn his head sharply to look at the intruder.

The voice gave him away immediately, and the appearance belonged to someone he never thought he would ever see again. "You're supposed to be dead," the words shot out sounding harsher than he intended but that seemed to be protocol for him. He could rarely change that tone of voice, even if he had wanted to.

"Well, hate to break it to you, but I'm not," the Trickster said smugly. Then he thought about his surroundings for a moment and considered carefully. "Or, maybe I am. But it doesn't matter because I'm not from here in the 'when' since so technically I'm not dead because I can be anywhere I want, any time I want."

Maybe that was too confusing for a mortal. (Or maybe he'd just said it way too strangely to be comprehensible.)

"Even if I'm dead in your time I'm not dead in mine and that's where I'm from." That was still... "I'm from the past, okay?"

As oddly as the trickster had appeared, what he was saying made just enough sense to earn a gruff reply, "Alright, fine, whatever. What are you doing here then? This isn't a place for angels in case you haven't already noticed. They've all packed up and left so if I was you, I would cancel my trip plans and go back to where ever it was I came from."

He poured himself another another glass of whiskey as he turned back to the table, chugging it down without hesitation..

"Well, excuse me for channel surfing in the wrong chronological direction. If it helps, I didn't mean to wind up talking to Mister Future I've-got-a Stick-the-size-of-Texas-stuck-in-my-Ass Dean Winchester. What I was aiming for was the good ol' I'm-just-a-regular-dick Dean Winchester. He's not so bad."

Gabriel huffed and crossed his arms over his shoulders, frowning and his brows furrowed far down on his face.

"You know how hard it is to find a guy when he's got Enochian sigils carved into his damned chest? I was trying to get around Castiel's little protection but it ain't easy. Oh, I can do it," he assured the human. "It just helps if I'm a bit closer already. Like when I spotted you guys entering town after my fun prank with the Hulk. I had to get you guys to come to me, but I knew you were around." By now he's grinning something fierce, a very pleased expression written all over his face.

This causes Dean's own frown to deepen, "Yeah, well then jump back a few years. I I think I was in Georgia about the same time as your brother so... Wouldn't make me too hard to find then, now would it?"

His attitude seems to say it all as he is far from pleased about having Gabriel has a special guest for the evening. He pauses a moment a before reaching for a container of holy water to splash on Gabriel. It's not that he doesn't trust that Gabriel's an angel, but he just wants to make sure and what better way than with a bit of holy water?

Gabriel blinks as the--holy water, really!?--splashes onto his face. Then he snaps his fingers and is no longer wet. "Yeah, no, because that's helpful.

"Which brother? The younger one or the older one? Because I want to assume you mean Lucifer but ya never know with you being ...you."

"Can't blame a man for checkin'," he brushed the initial comment off, capping the water again and putting it away.

"And yeah, I mean Lucifer. Probably haven't noticed yet but Cas isn't exactly what you would call an 'angelic being' any more. In fact, there's very little Cas is capable of doing these days."

Gabriel tilted his head to the side curiously at the mention of Castiel. Not an angel anymore? That seemed a little drastic even if the guy was being cut off. Maybe he'd pay his little brother a visit while he was around.

"I really don't want to find Lucifer though," he mused aloud for Dean's benefit since he wasn't exactly capable of reading wavelengths. "I don't want to find either of those SOBs. Got another time and place?"

"Oh hell, I don't know. Kansas maybe? Or Cicero. I was there for basically a year in 2010," Dean nearly snorted at the statement before picking up his gun again to play with (aka clean).

"2009, Dean-o," the archangel droned, "I need something from 2009. That doesn't involve any of my brothers. Do you even remember what it was like back before--" He stopped suddenly and looked around, but it didn't look like he was actually looking at the cabin. He frowned. "Where's Sam?"

"The hell are you doing in 2014 then huh? Can't control your winged mojo?" He slammed the gun down and ran a hand over his forehead, "How am I supposed to remember where I was five years ago? My life was on the road back then. Even if I give you a location, there's no way I'm going to recall specifically when I was there, okay? You'd have better luck just going from place to place on your own. Or hell, make a scene. That sure as hell seems to work. I can't stay away from shit like that."

"Good point. I didn't really want you, ah, knowing about it though," he said almost sheepishly. It was a really odd tone for the usually cheerful and/or deceitful god of trickery. Then he quickly switched gears. "You didn't answer my question."

"I answered your question perfectly, not get out before I shotgun your ass out of here," he replied gruffly, turning in his seat to look at the archangel.

Gabriel wasn't impressed by the shotgun threat--there were many ways he could null that--but the expression on his face wasn't so much blank as it was empathetic. Gabriel couldn't feel Sam anywhere in the immediate vicinity, and there was no way the two brothers would be so far apart in a time period like this. Gabriel wouldn't have been surprised to seeing them share the same cabin just as easily as they shared the same motel room even though it wouldn't have been necessary for them to do so. But there was only one make-shift bed in this room, and there were no conjoining rooms large enough to host another.

The archangel was sad for a moment, and he sagged in his chair as his wings drooped in the invisible realm, his eyes round and soft as he spoke quietly. "Is he dead, or...?"

The skilled hunter breath out a short hot breath through his nose, looking away once again, "He never made it back... So yeah. You could say he's dead."

It wasn't a subject matter he liked getting into even with those he was close to. He had so many arguments with his teammates just because it was something he wanted to forget. There was no getting him back and changing what had happened. That was it, the end of the road. They were done for good this time, everyone but him were just trying to enjoy what was left of their time before the lights went out for good.
