(MOD) A trip down memory lane + Goodbye

Sep 26, 2011 09:31

No flairs, no stunts. This will be my last post here.

I've neglected Project 365 so badly, and I'm really sorry for this, but work and RL have been taking too much of my time and still are. It is for this reason that I'll be leaving fandom and LJ, more or less. It's been great being in the graphics making world for 5 years or more, and thank you so much for sticking with me til the very end.

I've been meaning to do an Icons through the ages post for so long already, and I think it's just right to do one now. Just a short trip down memory lane.

2006 - 2007

God, these icons are so old! Around this time, I still didn't know what selective color was, or what color layers were supposed to do. I just played around with textures and tiny text.

2008

Basically, this is the age of radioactive coloring. I tried out the red-green coloring; didn't work for me. I discovered the blue-yellow coloring and fell in love. Towards the end of the year, I found my soft, peachy coloring, the one I use until now. This was also the age of icon specials!

2009

2009 saw better icons from me, albeit more muted and simple. I think the trademark peachy and soft coloring really started during this time. It was also around this time that I started getting more adveturous with the crops AND get back to using textures, this time properly. Thinking back, this might have been the prime of my icon-making stint.

2010

Still stuck with the peachy coloring. I grew really fond of center crops during this time. Also, notice the gaping lacking of textured icons? Lol.

2011

Oh wow, 2011. Huge style jump here. I started going for more vibrant colors and a bit more bold texture use. As expected, though, there's minimal texture use in my icons. All in all, I'd say this is the era of brighter and yellow-er coloring.

Thanks for the great trip, guys. You were all amazing.
