So often we forget God's wonderful love, which is the foundation of faith in God. We get so caught up in sin and the world and in this idea that we can earn our way to salvation, which is impossible. Then, when we realize that we have not been or cannot be good enough, we get caught in despair, or we chose to push God away. We forget that we cannot be good enough, but that God's glorious love is enough to save us despite this. Does that mean that we should stop doing good because we can never be good enough? No, but it means that we should do good out of love and thankfulness for God's love for us, and not because we are trying to earn His love. We cannot earn His love, but the amazing thing is He gives it to us anyways. Praise be to God!
God loves you just as you are, no matter what you have done or thought or will do, He loves you with a love greater than any we could ever imagine.
Romans 5:6-8
You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. 7Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous man, though for a good man someone might possibly dare to die. 8But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
1 Thessalonians 5:9-10
For God did not appoint us to suffer wrath but to receive salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ. He died for us that whether we are awake or asleep, we may live together with Him.
Ephesians 2:8-9
For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God, not by works so that no one can boast.
