[season had changed and time had gone by, but the years spent in Mayfield hadn't done much to change Minato. he was a little more blunt, perhaps-- just a little more talkative than he had been, and his view of the worth of his life had lessened considerably, but other than that, he really hadn't changed

[Staaaare. Bored child is incredibly bored.]

[he notices the staring and staaaares back for a moment before lifting a hand to wave.]

[Waves back slowly.]

Can you put some lights around the windows down there?

Okay. Toss 'em down.

[She holds up her hands, ready to catch.]

he disappears from view for a moment, reappearing a few seconds later with a nearly bound string of green lights. after a small pause to make sure they'd land alright and not accidentally on the girls head or something, he let go of the lights, allowing them to drop down to where she was.]

[She catches them easily and begins stringing them up like a good little helper. Still a little boring, but at least she's got something to do.]

[so useful. after a little while on the roof--he'd been mostly finishing things up the the time she had come along, so he only really had to doublecheck and make sure everything was attached the right way--he eventually comes down to check and sees having and difficulties due to potentially size-related matters.]

[She stops jumping in a futile attempt to get the higher up lights, and is only slightly embarrassed to have been caught doing so.]

...I'm too small to get them up there.

That's okay. You did a pretty good job.

[he walks over and looks at the windows for a moment before holding out a hand somewhat expectantly for the lights.]

[...Siiiigh. Yeah, she's not getting them. She'll reluctantly hand them over to Minato.]

[he offers a small smile in return and takes the lights-- and yeah, Minato's not the tallest guy on the face of the earth and never would be, but he doesn't have any real difficulty putting the lights up where she couldn't reach.]

[She watches dourly. If only she could've grown up big and tall...!

Or, you know. Grown up at all.]

[oh, he knows the feeling. for the most part at least.

once the lights were up, he turned to the girl and smiled again.]
