Opinions

Politics; depend's on who's country we're talking about. as far as politics in australia are, i'm not happy with the government and i think john howard should definitely consult the opinion polls, etc, or at least think before doing some of the things he's done. i mean, i understand that he's looking out for the "greater good" of australia, but if 85% of the population is against going to war in iraq, he really should of said sorry george bush, i love you an all, but the kids say no, so what if helping out the usa will help us out with the economy, it instamatically made us a terrorist target. john howard is making claims that the fact that we're now a terrorist target has no relevence to our participation in the war in iraq. like hell it doesnt.
Abortion;i'm definitely pro-choice. no doubt about it. a politician shouldn't be able to make that sort of decision on behalf of someone. especially when they're noone to comment on it for not having experiences in such situations as where the need of abortion is the "only choice". i dont think abortion should be used lightly, or used as regular "birth control".
College; tertiary education of any sort is worth the worry. i've been accepted to the queenlsand college of art once i've finished highschool, which i'm really looking forward to. anything that gets me professionally somewhere where i'm going to be happy is a good thing
Racism;  i'm going to quote
malatise because i can, and because she's right in saying I'm sick of certain people being stuck in puberty. that's all racism is. i'm caucasian with asian and jewish heritage, and i only sometimes get racist remarks drilled into me by people who know these things, because it's not something you'd be able to tell if you saw me. but whether or not it's directed at you, or someone you know, or people around you, or to anyone or any minority in the world, it is probably one of the most cruel "ism"s in mankind. it's immature and disrespectful, to yourself, and to humanity. as said in michael jackson's black or white: I'm not going to spend my life being a color
Homophobia; a fear of any minority, or eveen any majority, is wrong. a fear of a select group of people, is wrong. people need to understand that nomatter what their sexuality, it's not going to stop any one of us from being human. and humans have rights. especially the right of respect and dignity, if you have an issue with a group of people, ie. homosexuals, that's your problem you'll have to deal with or get over it by yourself. you shouldn't have to fight your anger against the opposing party, just seive it out. i dont see much point in hating anyone just because they're gay, lesbian, bi, trans, asian, caucasian, hispanic, african, or eskimo. we're human. get the fuck over your issues with yourself, just because you want to generalise and hate on people just because of one thing about them, doesnt mean you have to be public about it.
Lawyers; i used to want to be one. but to do that i'd have to take maths in highschool. and i cant do maths because i'm dyslexic. so no lawschool for me. i think people instantaneously  assume things about lawyers, like that they're coveteous economic-leeches, and that they have no hearts, because of how they're represented in the media and texts around us. lawyers have had to work so incredibley hard to become what they are, and i think that's worth the money, and if they dont seem particularily sympathetic it's most likely because they just want to get the case over with, go home to their family, and not think about how fucked up some of their clients cases are.
Death penalty; uhmmm... i dont really have an informed opinion on this because... well i dont know why i dont, i just dont. anyway, i think that people who do masskillings and terror attack should recieve the death penalty for what they've done, most definitely, but i guess the guy that kills the murderers would also be a murderer? i dont know it's confusing and i dont think too much about things like this if i have too many different ideas on it and i dont even know much about it.
Labeling;eh. the whole "labels" thing is a bit of a generic term to use when describing someone, but it is easier than going through every intricate detail of what that person is like. i mean, people at my school go around saying things like "EW DON'T LABEL MEEE, I'M AN INDIVIDUAL AND STUFFFF OKAY? LIKE, GIMME A BREAK ALREADY.... EWW PREPPY I HATE PREPPIES THEY LABEL EVERYONE AND ARE LIKE SO SHALLOW AND STUFFF I MEAN I WOULD LIKE NEVER DO THAT BECAUSE I'M AN INDIVIDUAL AND I DONT HAVE A LABEL AND I DONT LABEL ANYONE. BUT LIKE, PREPPY PEOPLE SUCK!!!!" and i just want to stand on their feet. obviously if you chose a certain lifestyle or fashion trend or music genre you know that you're going to labelled at least once, so i dont see why people get offended by it. sure, i think everyone is an individual, but it is possible to be an individual and still categorized into a "label" or stereotype.
Stereotyping;  can't really be avoided. i guess this is pretty much the same question as above. just breathe, dont let it phase you. its just a part of life.it's a really hard job, but generalizing or stereotyping people is something that comes pretty much second nature to humans. we like to categorise because we like to belong. and when we categorise, we generalise. i think all i can do, and all that i do to tone down a generalization is like, instead of saying "that's because he's gothic" or whatever, i say "well, its just a part of him being gothic, obviously its something he's chosen" or something. i dunno, its hard to give examples when you're trying to explain things, but something on the lines of that.
Drugs; shouldn't be missused. i'm all for natural sources of drugs (mushrooms, cannibus, etc) although it's not often that i'll do any of it, because i mostly can't be bothered smelling like a high person most of the time. but yeah. i personally plan not to use manmade drugs for recreational use. just the stuff my doctor gives me thankyou.
