Aw thank you, I'm so glad.

I think it's interesting that you say this IS Matt...the story is definitely about him, even though it's mostly people's reflections on him and not a lot of actual HIM, so I'm so glad that worked for you somehow, and that you felt it rang 'true' to him. I think the scene with Warlock you mention - the fact that he keeps a kit under his desk and will do what he needs to help John, rules be damned, probably IS what a post-firesale Matt would do. Aren't they just two peas in a rule-breaking pod these days? ;)

Oh I'm so glad you liked John's monologues, I was worried they were too long/boring, and OMG BOWMAN thank you for liking him and feeling like he had his roots in canon-Bowman, I was so nervous doing him the first time! (12) And heeeee John in Starbucks, I'm so glad that is getting love it almost got the snip (but moved to another fic of course, you know me).

And the flashes in time format THANK YOU, I was so worried that wouldn't be clear. That was actually the hardest part of this fic, getting eveything in the right order so it made sense, still built the emotion and tension right, and didn't double up in POV...phew! Clearly I enjoy complicating my life more than necessary.

Thanks for the hugs, I need them, I'm so glad to have this one done!!

I've re-read this several times now. It just gets better and better. I hold that this IS Matt regardless of whether the POV is his -- I can hear him and see him. But on repeated readings I am blown away by how much JOHN this is too, his voice and his emotions and his feelings. I literally cannot express myself when trying to explain how and why I love this story so much.

*twirls you again for the heck of it*

Bluuuuh. (good bluh) People coming back to re-read always does melty things to my nervous system. (prepare for long, rambly, nonsensical response)

"I hold that this IS Matt regardless of whether the POV is his -- I can hear him and see him"
-Heh. I didn't mean to argue. I get that, I guess what I meant was when I was writing this it felt like there were so many parts that, POV aside, he just isn't in. It's other people thinking about him while he's unconcious or out of the room and he isn't doing anything to see or hear. But the fact that you still came away with that feeling despite all those long thinky chunks is just lovely to me. It means the parts that did have Matt-action stood out for you and connected for you and that is so wonderful to hear.

"I am blown away by how much JOHN this is too,"
-Now this is what I would have been less surprised to hear, but it is still so wonderful to hear it, thank you. In a weird way I'm pleased that Matt was the one who came through for you first, for the reasons I said above, but the fact that I managed to make them both feel true to you makes me a happy Snick indeed.

"I literally cannot express myself when trying to explain how and why I love this story so much."
-Bluh! (clearly neither can I) But it means so much that you came back and tried. I'm so pleased you like it so much. Thank you. *stops rambing and hugs you instead*
