I listened to the S1 and S2 DVD commentaries last week - and the one for 1.01 mentioned that they were pushing Alesha/Matt in S1 and S2 - mainly through all the flirting. I'm not sure why they've abandoned that, unless it's simply 'cos they realised during the filming of the first 13 eps what fantastic chemistry Ben and Freema have, and so decided to just make Matt's flirting a little running joke.

I think it will be - they've been so blatantly with shipping James and Alesha so far this season. Even my mum, a non-fandom non-shipper has noticed it!!
