PSA: It's all about Amy Pond

Apr 04, 2010 15:19

I just wanted to point out, after reading umpteen comments about how Amy Pond is a stripper or a prostitute, that in the UK, a kissogram is NOT a sex worker (which is how both a stripper and a prostitute are classed). A kissogram is classed as an entertainer under employment law, because there's no sex involved - the kissogram wears a raunchy outfit and kisses the person to whom they're delivering the greeting, certainly, but that's it! Being a kissogram is a good deal less risque than being a pole-dancer, and as Amy said, it's fun.

I've also been seeing a lot of comments about how Amy's the best companion so far. Which is making me roll my eyes and grind my teeth. 1 - she's only had one episode so far, so that's hardly a comparison, but more importantly 2 - she's not overshadowed by the Blonde Boomerang, otherwise known as Rose Tyler. Martha had to contend with "You're not replacing her" and other references to Rose from Ten (and others), not to mention the shoehorned in unrequited love nonsense. And poor old Donna had to put up with Rose *literally* overshadowing her season, when she kept popping backwards and forwards from the parallel world as easily as if she was catching the #22 bus. Since Ten'd been on his own for some time before regenerating into Eleven, it stands to reason that Amy will have to deal with far less of the "ex-angst" than Martha and Donna did.
