At shortly after midday today I unplugged the phone, turned off my laptop, then bolted my door before sitting down to three hours and three minutes of the RSC/Illuminations film of David Tennant's 'Hamlet'. Oh, thanks for the review! I've been wondering if I should get the DVD, so this is really good to know. It's not out in region 1 format and I don't know if it ever will be, but I am in the process of acquiring a region-free DVD player -- once I do, I think this will be my first DVD for it!

I strongly recommend the Philips/Magnavox DVD players in the $45-65 price range. If you look them up in advance for the exact model #s, most of the ones at Walmart/Target/Best Buy are hackable to multi-region and PAL/NTSC. They last reasonably well (1-2 year) and play .avi files on home-burned disks. Many also now have a USB port and will play .avi and .wmv files from memory stick as well. We've loved ours!

Well they're airing it on PBS in April, so I'm assuming the R1 DVD will be out after that...
