...It's not really representative of artist!Clyde as we've seen him in other episodes. Shame they didn't use Clyde's portrait of Sarah Jane from the other week - would've been a nice contrast to the Mona Lisa.

Agreed. It wasn't even a very good painting - at least not worthy of winning a contest. The picture of SJ would have been awesome! Then Mona Lisa could have blasted SJ into her own portrait. The only problem is that then ML couldn't have stolen a Sontaran blaster since SJ would not have been carrying one.

- It's nice to see there's a realistic ethnic mix in Luke's classmates.

Is that a realistic mix for that area? Interesting. I was griping that there were only 2 "token" black people in the whole class.

- Am I the only one who thinks it's cute that Mr Smith's worrying about Sarah Jane's state of mind after her argument with Luke?

I LOVE the new closer relationship between SJ and Mr. Smith. Just like I love the rivalry between Mr. Smith and K9. I guess I just love Mr. Smith getting a more rounded personality.

No, but there were other paintings around with weapons in them. Clyde's prize-winning painting was simply a plot device - a deus ex machina to give Lisa a weapon.

Er, no there weren't! If you look at the group as it's walking towards the ML painting for the first time, there are at least half a dozen non-white faces behind Rani and Clyde - quite apart from them two. I'd say at least half the class wasn't white.

I think they made it all up. As far as I can tell, Giuseppe de Cattivo doesn't even exist...

I thought Mona Lisa being Mancunian was hilarious. Why would she be Italian; as she makes very clear, she's not Lisa del Giacondo. Then again, I also laughed at the idea the enigmatic smile was wind...

(And yes, while I understand that the writers don't want to get bogged down in old continuity, I was disapointed that no-one mentioned the painting had "This Is A Fake" written under the paint...)

Oh right, okay...

But she's meant to be Lisa del Giacondo - that's who the painting is of...

I'd seen/heard the joke about her smile being down to wind before.

Mr Smith, at least, should've mentioned it!

Yes, but she is the painting, not the person the painting's of. She (I imagine) doesn't have the real Giaconda's personality, she doesn't have her memories (I would guess the real Lisa knew about windows and grass), why would she have her accent?

(Or, to put it another way, if Leo had used the pigments to paint The Last Supper, maybe Jesus would have been a gun-toting sociopath with a Mancunian accent!)

Now I think of it, I'm not sure picture-K9 having the personality and abilities of real-K9 fits. Shouldn't he have been under Mona's control, like the highwayperson? And if he wasn't drawn with laser extended (or was he? I don't remember) then he shouldn't have had it, any more than the Dark Rider had a mouth...

Well if she's not Lisa, why the hell does she have a Mancunian accent? It's just so illogical...

I didn't notice if K9 had his laser out or not.

I'd say that's simply because Suranne Jones does! I did think it was odd, though. If Lisa is not in fact the 'real' Mona Lisa but some kind of entity in 'living paint', then she could have had a number of accents - but I'd personally have pegged either Italian or French as being the most likely, since presumably a painting left hanging on the walls of the Louvre for years could pick some up, Chalet School style.

The Manchester makes No Sense - except for the fact that it's Suranne's. I did keep expecting her to turn around and yell 'Steve' or something though, as per Corrie...

French was the other accent I'd have expected besides Italian...

Never seen Coronation Street (not a watcher of soaps).
