Ben Daniels Picspam - Aristocrats episode 1
So today I picked up the 1999 Aristocrats mini-series DVDs from the library (after waiting for WEEKS to get hold of them!) and I again managed to persuade my laptop DVD player to let me grab some screencaps. Alas, Ben's character (Lord Kildare) isn't in the episode until the last 15 minutes, but he looked mighty fine once he turned up:
Not on a white charger, but he looks quite good on horseback nonetheless!
He's come to see the girl he wants to marry in hopes to persuading her parents to let him marry her. Lady Emily is quite willing - and she's already discovered his secret - he has a shoe fetish, so she tells him she wants to walk, and he stands there admiring her shoes (and foot tangenitally) before helping her down from her horse.
Lord Kildare has dinner with Lady Emily's parents (the Duke and Duchess of Richmond), while playing footsie under the table with Lady Emily (which she instigates). In the final picture you can see how he nearly loses it as a result of her playing with him in this manner.
Lord Kildare is getting tired of waiting to get those pretty shoes (and talented feet) to himself, and he finally challenges Lady Emily's father in the matter of his request for her hand in marriage.
Lady Emily's father finally agrees to the marriage, and Lord Kildare gets to discreetly fondle her shoes and feet in public by way of celebration. He's definitely a happy man - and she's a happy woman. (Will she still be happy once she starts dropping kids at a rate of knots though?)
The series is based on Stella Tillyard's biography of the same name and is an Irish Screen Production for BBC and WGBH Boston. There are six episodes, so I'm going to be in a happy Ben!daze for the next few days! :D
