A friend kindly sent me The Three Doctors, the 10th anniversary Doctor Who story featuring the Second and Third Doctors (and a brief appearance from the First - sadly William Hartnell wasn't well enough to get fully involved in the story) - and I watched it this afternoon thinking it'd be nice to have a multi-Doctor story to counteract the Doctor-lite one on the telly tonight!
And I loved it - I actually liked it better than The Five Doctors. I'm a bit too giggly still to write a proper review, so here are the things I loved about it:
- Two and Three squabbling for much of the first half of the story was simply priceless.
- One calling them "a dandy and a clown"!
- Jo refusing to be taken to safety by Benton when the weird organism thingy is trying to nab Three.
- Benton absolutely refusing to comment on the fact that the TARDIS is bigger on the inside (I was already rather fond of Benton but my love for him rocketted on the strength of that reaction).
- Three's obvious fondness for Jo.
- Benton's expression when the Brig reveals that he's told Geneva that Two is Three's assistant!
- Two clutching Benton's arm and saying "Oh my giddy aunt" when they see the red jelly-creatures.
- Benton is also obviously fond of Jo.
- Two saying "Fascinating", like Nine saying "Fantastic" and Ten saying "Brilliant".
- The silent slo-mo fight between Three and Omega worked surprisingly well.
- Two's habit of clutching his right hand in his left (which I'd noticed before).
- The Brig saying "Three of them? I didn't know when I was well off!" I love his laconic responses to things - he's so unflappably British (*squishes the Brig*)
I think this is actually my favourite multi-Doctor story that I've seen - so if you get the chance, do watch it...
