Author's Notes: First in a loose series of drabbles, originally written for various hp100 challenges, that end up as Helga/Salazar. Kinda too bad I can't include Moon and Stone, which is also Helga/Salazar (although perhaps more notable for Salazar's being a werewolf), since it's cowritten. But it's okay if I link it as long as I don't try to count it, right? *looks angelic*

Salazar was minding his own business when the stairs ate him.
He was climbing up from inventing secret rooms in the depths of the castle when he set his foot on a step and both it and its lower neighbor gave way. His stomach jolted as he pitched downward, and even as he reached to catch himself, the missing stairs sucked him in.
They deposited him in an unceremonious heap on the floor of one of the rooms he had just created, and he looked up in astonishment to see Helga.
"Hmm," she said. "Perhaps this wasn't the best spot."
