St. Peter's Orientation today!

May 23, 2008 14:20

It's done, it was quick and fairly painless. I was told a ton of things NOT to do and in fact a girl who was being oriented with me - Nadia - even commented that it was easier if Cathy (my volunteer supervisor) just told us what we were allowed to do.

The smell there is something it'll take a bit of getting used to I think. It's a very strange combination of urine, feces, and disinfectant all together. Eeeugghhh.

If I volunteer more than 5 hours at once, I get a free meal. Woohoo! Coz they serve pizza. And cookies. And they have fries, and burgers and *drools*

My TB skin test turned out to be negative. Jeez I could have told them that. But instead that subjected me to 20+ days of itching and scratching my arms. Seriously! It's not even supposed to itch! Turns out I'm allergic to the TB bacteria. Go figure.

My immunization records got here today too. I'm glad coz now I can hand them in and start working as early as next week. I'm in the palliative care, and I haven't even started yet and already everyone's treating me like I'm a godsend or something. Apparently, not many people volunteer in palliative care. I don't know why, everything I saw today was really easy to do. I'm worried I'm stepping into something I can't handle. But oh well!

So anyways, I have to do 30 hours of volunteering first before I graduate from 'temporary' to 'permanent' volunteer at which point I will be handed my own photo ID card which will open doors to the restricted sections and because Cathy knows I wanna be a surgeon she said she'll allow me in the emergency section sometimes so I can tail the doctors there. The doctors are very nice. I met one of them today, his name is Mark and he's ZOMG SO HOT! And I think I know which doctor I'll be tailing ~_^

All in all. Funnnnnn.
