Nervous Dreams and a Little Bad News

I dreamed I was in a race with two other students from my old high school. The track weaved through out the building, though, going outside and toward the edge of hills I had never seen before.

I reached the edge of a hill and realized it was a straight drop-off to the ground. I considered backing up and running as hard as I could in order to run vertically. It worked in action films and anime, didn't it? In the distance, away from the hills, I saw mountains rising up against the horizon. Worried I would fall and break my neck, I gave up.

There was an alternate course route where parents and children were milling about. It was frustrating to try and get around them. They didn't seem aware this race was important.

While running through the green house section of the school, one of the other people in the race informed me she was dropping out. Her knee had torn, she said. She sat down on the bench and waited.

I kept wondering when I would find the end of the course. I needed to run it five more times to complete the race.

While I was sick, it turns out Neil Gaiman was at the 92nd St Y. I was sick and the event was pricey, but I still would have been willing to go. Bummer. You really can't afford to be absent from New York for very long.

bandg33kin3ss proved that yesterday afternoon when she called up and informed me she would be coming to New York for Thanksgiving at the same time when I would be back home in Cleveland.

Damn. This is all a bit sad.
