Entry Separated Into Sections As An Attempt to Make It Less Rambling

This past weekend I went to the Brooklyn Museum of Art. I saw African art, some manly-sensitive films from Jesper Just, and tons of paintings. It's a really well organized museum. Very close to the botanical garden, too! I'll have to go back (eventually).

Some parts of Brooklyn are really nice. If I were to ever get a job in Manhattan, I wouldn't mind living there. I suppose I'm naive in saying that I don't think the crime rate is that bad. At least it's quieter than Chelsea. How am I ever going to sleep back in Wooster without the sound of sirens to lull me to sleep?

Today at my internship, another intern was talking about her difficulty in finding a job. She's a friendly person - she brought in oatmeal chocolate chip cookies, today - but she's having nasty luck. She's out of school, out in the world, and really trying to find a job doing something she cares about. I hope everything turns out okay for her.

Loathe though I am to admit it, I should get a new iPod. My original iPod disappeared on Sixth Avenue. Now that all my songs are on iTunes, and all my CD's are home, I don't think I can go back to a CD player.

All my songs are saved on my computer and I got the iPod with the computer as a sales special, so I'm not too bummed. I feel careless, though.

Ah, well. Cell phones and iPods are made to get lost. It's how Mac stays in business.

Saw the season finale to Mad Men, last night. Shiza. I love that show. It knows just how to jerk at my heart strings without being too melodramatic.

Is it wrong to compare a series about our false ideal of the early sixties to Buffy the Vampire Slayer? They're not part of the same genre, certainly. Both series have characters that make choices both endearing and repelling to the viewer, strangely metaphorical episodes, and emotional plot lines that involve growing up and taking responsibility. Most good television shows have at least two out of three of those, so maybe I'm just imagining things.

Halloween is soon, and that makes me happy. I dig LJ's temporary layout and I'm loving my costume.

The only thing I don't like about Halloween this year is that it's one more day before the election. There's too much suspense. It's like living inside a pressure cooker. I just want it to be done.
