My Body's Not Going Anywhere, Why Not Give My Brain a Vacation?

Sep 05, 2007 09:32

I honestly don't have too many exciting things to report. College is pretty much the sum of everything I'm doing, right now: getting ready for college classes, being nervous about college tests and assignments, having fun with college friends (though this doesn't make them any less friendly, I'm quick to add), eating at college, sleeping at college...

It's the middle of the second week, and already my brain needs a break.

That's why I've been hanging out at NaNoWriMo.org and planning out my story attempt for November. For those unfamiliar, living under a rock, or similar, NaNo is a "contest" that encourages wannabe writers to jump start novels. The goal is to write 50,000 words by the end of the month. The main project varies: a single novel, interrelated short stories, poetry, maybe even fan fiction. Hell, some people make their NaNo into an illustration project.

Anyway, thinking up ideas for November is a nice bit of escapism, even if it does mean I'll be spending some of my already limited free time researching.

Right. Class at 11am, breakfast at 10am. Must go!
