Ryan visited for a few days, and we had a wonderful time hanging out. I swear, this dude is so nice to me I joked at one point that he was actually a sex robot that lived in my basement. He watched 2 Disney movies with me and then was like, "What else do you want to watch? I want to see whatever is in your comfort zone." Like, how is that for real? How can you know somebody for 13 years and still be stunned by how nice they are to you?
Today's looking to be a pretty lazy day. I'm trying to finish up the last edits of this draft of Firefly so I can send to Marc by the deadline we picked (7/25). I should be able to get there by tomorrow. I'm sure it'll get done enough, perfect being the enemy of done and all.
Funny story about this weekend - the pic of Ryan and I on the boat was taken moments before I very nearly chucked my phone into the Ohio river. I fumbled with it when Ryan handed it back to me and it went right over the railing, cards flying everywhere. Ryan later commented that I immediately accepted it was gone. Like, seconds after it disappeared I settled back into my chair and started laughing, while he was still in sympathetic shock and dismay. A guy behind us pointed out that the phone had not actually gone into the water, but was on a 10" ledge on the other side of the railing. Sure enough, some trick of physics stopped my phone from actually going into the drink. Ryan was able to retrieve it, and in the end, I only lost my drivers license (I needed to replace it with a RealID anyway), my Citi credit card (easily replaceable through the app), and the metal strip that connects my phone to the magnet holder in my car. I still can't believe my phone didn't actually go in the river.
Ryan and I came up with a toast, partially inspired by the mishap: "To close calls, lucky breaks, and half-decent milkshakes."
