Lessons from Travels

This weekend has been a nice change. Instead of overloading myself with wedding crap I'm just kinda of waltzing through it, picking up pieces of planning... looking at them with intrigue and placing them back down where they belong. Instead, I played LOTRO for a bit and decided to pick back up on my scrapbooking. I go on a lot of trips.... and all of them should be recorded because they each deserve to be remembered later in life for the lessons they've taught me.

The Keys with Sarah: Watch myself and my actions closely. It's good to be silly sometimes.

Canada with David: You can't always trust friends of friends.

Seattle-Florida with David: Being confined in a car with someone will always be an excellent challenge of friendship. There are many differences between friendships involving men and women and friendships of the same sex, and they must be treated that way.

Chicago with Alex: It's easy to get overwhelmed in a big city.

Massachusetts with Mom: Communication is key.

Myrtle Beach with Melissa: Things aren't always the way they appear to be.

Tennessee '06: Life can be lived in a multitude of ways and friends and family make it all the much sweeter.

Yellowstone with Mom, Wes & Alex: The journey is so much more important than the destination.

Philly with Alex's family: Compromise and gratitude should always be acknowledged.

Georgia with Graham: Sometimes laughing at yourself is the only thing you can do, and often times it's the best solution.

Tennessee '08: Finding out something was better than you ever expected it to be is the greatest high.

Boston with Alex: Room service and GPS systems are life savers. Never stay at a hotel that's too good to serve you a free breakfast.

DC with Alex's family: You can have just as much fun sightseeing at night as you can during the day.

Next week I'll be leaving to go on a road trip with my mom so I can interview with my potential grad schools. We'll be heading to Norfolk first, have two days off, head to Boston then set off immediately for Philly. We've been looking up cool places to visit in the meantime. We might actually set foot in New York City for once to see the Statue of Liberty. I don't think I'll feel like I've seen all of the U.S. until I see it. It should be a wonderful trip, full of useful information that will help add another puzzle piece to where I'm going to be living after Alex and I get married. And let's not forget the biggest trip! I couldn't imagine a better place for Alex and I to honeymoon.

I'm also trying to talk him into a weekend cruise to the Bahamas in August before we move because it'll be a damn shame if I move out of Florida without 1) ever going on a cruise 2) never going to the Bahamas (or any island off the FL coast for that matter).

I'll make it work... watch me.
