This is set pre-series way back when Dan and Jones were teenagers (because in my own personal canon, they were neighbours). Follows on from my previous drabble
Never Found Upon Your Own, set during the morning after. I managed to write this one rather quickly, so I'm not sure if that means it's really great or really bad - you be the judge. Wait, did I just write something sad?
Jones often found himself entangled in cold empty sheets; this morning however, he was surprised to find he was wrapped up in Dan’s arms instead. He felt safe and warm tucked up in bed with Dan, but the moment ended too soon.
Dan stirred behind him and pressed a light kiss to his shoulder. Suddenly feeling a bit chilly, Jones rolled over and pulled the covers tight around them.
“I’m sorry about your top. I can probably try and sow it back together. Or something?”
“Nah, don’t worry ‘bout it.” Jones fidgeted with his torn shirt and Dan took the opportunity to put some distance between them.
“So last night...” Dan’s eyes flickered between Jones and the mattress.
“You don’t have to say anything Dan.”
Jones tried to shuffle closer to him but again, Dan moved away. Jones didn’t like that he kept picking at a lose thread on the pillow. His fingers were agonisingly close to Jones’ face but didn’t creep any closer.
On his way out the front door, Jones stood up on his toes to kiss Dan goodbye. His lips missed their usual target though and landed on a stubbly cheek as Dan turned his head away.
