I significant savings over the standard 20 minute long fireworks shows going on all over this country tonight which can run up to and over $250,000. Each.
1) It's a little distasteful when you're in the middle of a country you're occupying and that you have just bombed back into the middle ages
2) The fireworks out there are mostly paid by sponsors like large companies or local organizations/cities, these missiles come straight out of your tax paying pockets...
The missle was already paid for long ago, probably even 10 years ago. (Yes, we'll probably replace it, I know...)
We didn't bomb them back into the middle ages, they were already there. They're still there. They'll still be there in 50 years, and probably would have been whether we attacked them or not.
In all honesty, it was probably used as a "live-fire training exercise", letting someone who'd never fired a TOW before get some real practice on something they'd just have to haul out anyway.
Aye, and if their leader hadn't invaded Kuwait, We'd never have received World support to do that. Remember, we helped the Iraqi's (including Saddam) against the Iranians all the way up to 88.
