Oh, computer, you torture me so.

I've had my Mac [iBook G4] for just over 3 years. The computer itself is in good shape, save a few smudges and the stickers I've stuck to the top. However, I'm on my third power cord. My first power cord crapped out after 2-1/2 years of rampant abuse. The wider part of the cord that connected the main part of the cord to the connector basically snapped in half. I bought a second cord from a wholesaler, and the connector component itself [the outer shell of it, to be precise], cracked and slowly broke into two pieces. I bought a third cord from an Apple dealer, and when wrapping up the cord to take my computer elsewhere, I realized the metal connector casing that wraps around the connector prong has a split in it.

Le sigh, I say.

My iBook is the last generation of iBook to have the non-magnetized power cord. There's a part of me that says I should keep my iBook and just buy another [$80] cord. There's a second part of me that says my computer is almost 3-1/2 years old, still in good enough condition to sell [save the power cord, naturally], and that I could buy a new iBook for $1300 [not counting the 10% discount I would get if I bought it at the uni bookstore], sell the one I have now for $600-$800 [I'm still checking to see what my iBook is worth], and end up with a new computer while my current computer goes off to a good home where it'll continue to be loved.

"This is completely not fandom-related," you're thinking. "Why the hell is this here?"

Good question, and I have an answer for it: I think this flist has more general computer knowledge than my other flist; therefore, I'm posing this question to you.

It's a 13-inch, white, iBook G4.

There are a few stickers on the outside shell [3 NaNo stickers, a Planned Parenthood sticker, and 1 "Happy Halloween" sticker], and I think I remove them if I do decide to sell.

1GB of RAM [or whatever they're calling RAM nowadays--the Mac Store uses an abbreviation I don't recognize [cue me feeling slightly old and out-of-touch].]

100GB Hard Drive

Runs Mac OSX 10.4.1, and I still have the start-up CD.

Microsoft Office 2008 is on my current computer, and I also have the program CD.

I will, of course, take the time to remove any and all personal stuff before I sell, least some unsuspecting person open up Word and finds some half-finished NC-17 that would melt her/his eyeballs.

So, thoughts? Opinions? Pretty pictures of new computers?
