Okay, I admit it, I can fall for the nighttime teen soap as easily as anyone else. I fought it like mad, but, come *on*, it's Peter Gallagher, and his wonderfully sexy eyebrows. Give it up for the eyebrows.
Disclaimer: Fox's. Not mine. Won't be. I'm pouting, here.
Author's Notes: Everyone has the 'Sandy and Kirsten watch the boys and talk' bit. This is my contribution to that very comfy bandwagon.
Not in the Plan
By Perpetual Motion
Sandy watches Ryan and Seth as they curl up together on the couch. He watches his son put his arm around another boy's waist and kiss the side of his neck. He hears Kirsten come up behind him. "This was not my plan."
"What was your plan?" Kirsten places a warm hand on the back of Sandy's neck. "Bring the wounded boy home, give him faith in humanity, and send him out into the big, wide world with hope?"
"Something like that."
"Didn't plan for our son to fall for him?"
"Or the other way around." Sandy watches as Ryan strokes the top of Seth's head and says something that makes him laugh in a way he never has before. "Never thought a kid from Chino would fall for a Newport baby."
"They never thought a Newport baby would fall for a guy from the Bronx."
Sandy has to chuckle at that. "Good point."
"Is it really so bad?" Kirsten steps up so she can see Sandy's eyes. "You wanted to give Ryan some faith, and he has it now. Seth gives it to him."
"How are you so comfortable with this?"
"I'm a mother. I want Seth happy above everything else. Even above you. Is it a bad thing that he's so happy with Ryan?"
"I don't think it's bad." Sandy brushes Kirsten's hair off her face and remembers how he fell for her, this Newport baby he was supposed to snub on basic, everyman principle. Seth is so much like her. Ryan has a stunning psychological resemblence to him. How could he not have seen it coming? "Seth is happy. Ryan is happy. I'm so glad for that. I just can't believe I didn't see it coming."
"Bad lawyer. No cookie." Kirsten taps the end of his nose.
Sandy outright laughs and kisses her quickly, pulling her in for a hug. He watches the boys engage in a popcorn fight over Kirsten's shoulder and hopes they end up as lucky as he has.
