Okay, I've heard Tamora Pierce quoted as saying she lives to write battle scenes. I never understood that, though I do appreciate reading those battle scenes.
But now? I get it.
Only for me, it's chase scenes -- car chases in particular. I dreamed a car chase this morning, and then it basically wrote itself. Note to self: when stuck or discouraged, make a car chase happen. Best, most dynamic 1500 words of the NaNo so far!
Yeah, the NaNo is at 36k. If all goes well, I should be hitting 50 by Saturday!
In other news, I have another chest cold (or maybe the same one lingering on; I'm losing track), and have spent half of the weekend in bed, hoping that will make it go away. Though I did manage to visit my folks on Friday and go out for dinner with Aurora Saturday, which turned out to be exactly what I needed.
Meanwhile, this is the start of "Reclaiming Dom Week" over at Glake, which I feel that I ought to be open-minded about... but the truth is that there are so many characters I already love, and I don't have time to write or read or analyze as much as I'd like to about them -- witness my almost total lack of participation in "Wyldon Winter" last week. But... I'll try. I do think it would benefit Pierce fandom to have a better -- more three-dimensional, more complex, more real -- fanon!Dom, so if this event makes a difference in that regard, I'll be glad. I don't promise to participate, given every other direction my attention wants or needs to go. But I'll try.
