So, New York.
Is this, as I keep reading in various places, the honest-to-God turning of the tide in the US? Earlier this year, I linked to a New York Times article which states that
Gay Marriage Opponents are Now in the Minority. Two months later, New York has legalized same-sex marriage. New York is big. People all over the world watch New York.
New York, unlike California, does not have a reputation for turning over their own ballot initiatives every other time something progressive is passed.
Had a dream last night that I was celebrating the New York ruling; that a room full of random strangers here in the Midwest all started cheering when they heard, and I took that as proof that things are seriously changing at last.
My thanks to everyone who spoke up in favor of this law. Here's hoping other states, including mine, follow suit. Here's hoping my country, as a whole, steps up. Soon.
