You fic the law of conservation of energy is one of the triggering stories i have ever read.
Cas in The show would never hurt an innocent. But in your fic he kills and tortures innocent people in order to open the gates of purgatory. Cas tortures innocent kids to open the purgatory. This is unforgivable no matter what. This is monstrous. There is no forgiveness for it. How can someone right something like this as something that could be eventually forgiven is beyond. I think it kind of represents your morality and ethics. If this was done by someone else then Dean and Sam would not have thought twice before killing him. But because it was done by Cas they eventually forgive him and move on. The worst thing is even though Cas says he is sorry, he still tries to justify his actions by saying that Dean is worth all of this and he was only trying to save him. He expects Dean and Sam to understand why he did what he did. Which means he still is not truly remorseful. Cas never truly regretted what he did to those innocent people and kids. Cas didn't deserve forgiveness in this fic.
