When you say Zen media player, you don't mean an mp3-player? If you do, the problem might just be that you haven't, uh, updated something. I'm clearly not very good with anything technical. But I used to have the same sort of problem, the thing only went on if I kept trying for 20 minutes, and even then only if it felt like it. Eventually it did nothing more than make screechy noises and drive me insane. My bf took a look and apparently I just needed to update something online (I think he called them drivers in finnish, but like I said, I suck with these sort of things and the terminology might be very different in different languages) and now it works like a charm.
If you go to the Creative site, there are driver updates for your MP3 in case there is a malfunction, mine's been stalling on random songs, but after installing an update, it's good to go.
