NewS Drabble Dump #1

From the requests I was taking on my lj here yesterday. The following three are the results of the "Why A Loves B" part of the meme; the 5 Things requests and the Timestamp request will come later. You know, when I DO THEM.

Which I will. TOTALLY.

YES.

Title: Love, Actually
Theme/Topic: Why Uchi loves Ryo
Rating: PG
Character/Pairing/s: Uchi, Ryo (lightly RyoxUchi)
Warnings/Spoilers: Nothing I can imagine.
Word Count: 288
Summary: Uchi wouldn’t call it love, exactly.
Dedication: Bing’s meme request for the “Why A Loves B” meme.
A/N: I STILL SUCK AT WRITING UCHI.

When he is asked to name the reasons why he loves Ryo during a magazine interview, Uchi blinks and thinks about this for a moment; he decides right off the bat that what he feels for the other boy can’t be called love exactly (because if he is going to call anything love then it’s going to be with a girl, and if that girl has to be like one of the members, then she’s going to be like Koyama; Uchi has already stated this out loud on national television). But even if it’s not love exactly, he still considers Ryo one of the least stupid people he knows, and between two guys with personalities like theirs, calling someone not-stupid is as close to love as they can get without going ahead and sticking their tongues down each other’s throats too.

In the meantime, Ryo frowns at the interviewer’s question-because he clearly doesn’t like it- and butts in before Uchi responds; Ryo’s lip curls upwards slightly and he says, “Uchi likes me because he hates stupid people. We’re similar that way.”

The interviewer blinks; “I’m sorry, Nishikido-kun, I’m not sure I understand what you mean by that.”

“Well,” Ryo explains, slowly and with a completely serious expression on his face, “for instance, if he didn’t like you, it would probably be because you are stupid.”

Silence. Then, a careful, “Ah, I see.”

The interviewer stops asking personal questions after that.

And Uchi can’t help it when he bursts out laughing once they’re all done talking and Koyama and Shige are coming into the room for their turn next; he thinks to himself that then there are also moments like those, when maybe it is love after all.

Title: Divine Law
Theme/Topic: Why Ryo Loves Tegoshi
Rating: PG
Character/Pairing/s: Ryo, Tegoshi
Warnings/Spoilers: Crack+OOC. XD
Word Count: 641
Summary: Ryo has to love Tegoshi.
Dedication: Ann’s meme request for the “Why A loves B” meme.
A/N: Silliness. Leave me alone. XD

Ryo loves Tegoshi because there is a universal law in effect that states that no one on this earth can exist and hate Tegoshi at the same time.

Ryo suspects that anyone who tries to actively dislike Tegoshi while still drawing breath will immediately be reduced to nothing but dust by an act of god or nature.

And it’s not even a joke or anything; Ryo has gathered proof over the years of instances in which those who do not like Tegoshi simply cease to exist, as if the universe senses an imbalance in the force and decides to save itself some trouble by simply devouring the perpetrator.

For example, there was this one junior back in Tegoshi’s first six months at the jimusho who had kept harassing Tegoshi because Tegoshi had been small and awkward and couldn’t dance well when he first started out; Ryo had heard about all the bullying Tegoshi had endured at this kid’s hands from offhanded stories told by Masuda. Now, no one remembers that bully’s name anymore or whether he’s even still around; did he leave Johnny’s? Did he die? He certainly never debuted.

Then, in NewS’s first year of existence, Tegoshi had forgotten to bring his backstage pass with him when he’d stepped outside the Volleyball arena, and when he’d tried to get back in on his own the security guard standing at the back door had refused him admittance on account of Tegoshi “being too plain looking to be an idol.”

Koyama had happened to wander by and cleared up the situation in a good way, but later, when management heard the story and wanted a written apology to Tegoshi from the guard, the guard could not be contacted no matter how hard they’d tried to radio him.

They’d even eventually called his house; his wife had told them that he hadn’t come home yet.

“It’s okay,” Tegoshi had said, and smiled benevolently at the distraught and embarrassed stadium manager; “Maybe he just went to get a drink on his way home.”

“But he’s still on shift,” the manager said.

Tegoshi only smiled again, as if that had no bearing on the current situation at all. “I’m really okay! Don’t worry about it!”

The manager smiled back; he even blushed at Tegoshi’s kindness. “Okay!” And he promptly forgot about anything that had to do with his obnoxious security guard (or the fact that he was currently missing).

After that Ryo can list off countless other incidents in which similar things have occurred; a man on the train who wouldn’t give up his seat to an old lady when Tegoshi asked him to; a group of drunk businessmen who’d refused to believe Tegoshi wasn’t a girl and that he really wanted it bad; some obnoxious fans who somehow believed that Yamapi sang better than Tegoshi and told Tegoshi right off to stop taking all the solos, etc. etc. etc.

The one thing that all of these incidents has in common is the fact that any perpetrators of crimes against Tegoshi were simply never seen again.

Sure, Japan is a big place and there are tons of people and maybe all those wrongdoers coincidentally decided to take different trains or routes to work from their fateful run ins with Tegoshi onward, but even despite that possibility, Ryo still thinks that it is simply safer to loyally obey the laws of the universe, mostly because he is a Sexy Osaka man and thus does not want to chance depriving his fans of his handsome face and ideal figure on television week in and week out.

So Nishikido Ryo does exactly as he needs to; he loves Tegoshi fully, unquestionably, faithfully.

It’s not so bad.

Besides, if you asked him, his love of Tegoshi isn’t purely obligatory either.

Ryo’s actually kind of attracted to the power, too.

Title: Great Minds
Theme/Topic: Why Tegoshi Loves Shige
Rating: PG
Character/Pairing/s: Tegoshi, Shige, Yamapi
Warnings/Spoilers: OOC and EVIL!Tego?
Word Count: 632
Summary: Tegoshi and Shige are both smart; they just think in different ways.
Dedication: Ann’s second meme request for the “Why A loves B” meme.
A/N: I dunno, I feel like being a little bit evil with Tego lately. XD

Tegoshi loves Shige because while Shige is smart enough to manage staying at least one step behind Tegoshi most of the time, he is not always quite quick enough to keep up exactly. This keeps things interesting and challenging for Tegoshi all at once.

Not that Tegoshi is insinuating that he is smarter than Shige; honestly, Shige is definitely smarter than him in a lot of ways and Tegoshi knows this.

Rather, he likes to think that the two of them have different sorts of intelligence.

It really just depends on what’s happening at any one given time; their minds don’t work alike at all. But then again, that’s half the fun.

“What are you doing?” Shige asks one afternoon, as the two of them are lounging around the dressing room waiting for their scheduled meeting time. He watches Tegoshi in a very confused manner as the younger boy happily sits himself down at the table and pops open Ryo’s laptop. “Did Ryo give you permission to use his computer?”

“Ryo-tan doesn’t mind when I use his things,” Tegoshi chirps in response. It’s true; Ryo doesn’t mind when Tegoshi uses his lap as a chair or his shoulder as a pillow, so why would Ryo mind if Tegoshi used his computer as a computer?

Shige is instantly suspicious of course, but Tegoshi loves the parts about Shige that aren’t quite sure what’s going on yet; not exactly.

In the meantime, Tegoshi concentrates on setting this up just right; Shige will understand once everything is put into place and ready to go. And there’s nothing to worry about; it’s not that Tegoshi is doing anything bad after all. In fact, his goal is to make everyone happy today, just like it is every day.

Ten minutes later Yamapi comes rushing into the room (notably early); he’s clutching his cell phone in one hand and looks kind of confused. “I just got an e-mail from Ryo-chan!” the leader breathes. “I was at the studio!”

Shige blinks at Yamapi. “How did you get all the way from the studio to the office just now?” he asks, and looks boggled.

Yamapi simply flashes a V-sign (like that explains everything), and then gestures to his phone again. “Ryo-chan’s message said I have to remember my promise from yesterday, ne!”

Shige eyes Tegoshi again and Tegoshi can see the pieces all slowly drifting into place in Shige’s mind. As usual, he’s just a single second behind.

Tegoshi in the meantime, smiles at Yamapi. “What promise, Yamashita-kun?”

Pi blinks. “Um… I forgot,” he admits after a moment. “But if I tell Ryo-chan I forgot he’ll get mad, ne.” Pause. Fidget. “Do any of you…”

Tegoshi cocks his head to the side thoughtfully and tries to help. “Well, you did say you’d treat everyone to yakiniku before… is that it?”

Yamapi also cocks his head to the side and ends up mirroring Tegoshi, except he looks less thoughtful and more confused. “I did?”

Tegoshi smiles.

Yamapi slaps himself in the forehead. “Ah, I did, didn’t I!” Then he grins, apparently at peace with himself again. He throws a thumbs up in the air. “Yosh, then once we’re done for the day let’s all go eat yakiniku together, ne!”

“Yay!” Tegoshi exclaims, and claps happily. “Leader is great!”

Shige can only look at Tegoshi from the couch with a slightly awed, vaguely disbelieving look on his face.

Tegoshi knows what that means; Shige finally gets it now.

But it’s already too late to say anything either way; it’s not like Shige can complain about the outcome at this point. So he just continues to sit silently, forced to understand without being able to do anything about it.

Tegoshi beams at him.

Because he loves Shige for being so cute like that.
