I just... don't like the fact that they're basically manufactured by some company that sets out to exploit young(ish) girls. They make me think of jelly moulded in a factory -- they're essentially all the same, even if they come in different flavours. :/

LOL But all entertainment companies manufacture things to exploit their consumers. IT IS THE CAPITALIST WAY.

Though I personally think this whole system is pretty freaking amazing in terms of marketing strategies. AND IT KIND OF SETS THESE GUYS UP FOR LIFE, so I'm sure they're okay in the end. You know, because even the ones who don't become successful actors/singers/dancers are still taught to act/sing/dance as well as write/direct/produce.

Yes, but I don't necessarily like any of those things manufactured by entertainment companies? At least not when it comes to music/singers. And I tend to like actors based on their acting, rather than their looks/how gay they can pretend to be.
