The trip to the flea market was fruitful

I scored some REALLY nice stuff at the flea market.

Would you believe I paid $2 for this? It was "broken", meaning one of the chains had come loose in the middle. $2 and a pair of jewelry pliers later... perfectly functional. You can't even tell where it came loose. It's a bit short for a choker for me (I have a thick neck) but I can use it for embellishment elsewhere, or maybe replace the connecting chain and make it fit as a choker. I haven't decided.

Now, these two pieces are my serious score for the day. I'm so proud of them. The shield is a brooch, and the lady wanted $5... but I haggled a little and got it down to 4. The pocketwatch isn't working, I don't think, but I only paid $4. I don't need a working watch, I need a pretty one! It's a neat look, rather unique.

I really like this gaudy little bit. The character that's shaping up in my head is a bit of a magpie, and loves shiny things. So this'll be either a belt, or a shoulder chain. Maybe a Pern-inspired metal rank knot? I dunno. I'll see when I put it all together.

And lastly, this was my splurge. I probably should have haggled on this, but I made the mistake of falling vocally in love with it. It's 55% silk, and just a hair too small, but it's stretchy, and under that dress vest, you'll never notice. $15 - which is still WAY cheaper than I would have paid in the mall!

My costume is really coming together! I won't call it complete, not yet, but I definitely have enough to get started. Now to find some leather straps and small belts for strategic placement!
