Fun stuff saturday. I went with Jen, Ea and Crystal to go visit my friend Becca (thier sister) in Seattle. We walked around Pike Place market and had lunch in the alley cafe, that was really good. The funniest thing was when Becca and I were talking in a store that sold African items, and had a really awsome sales girl who was really good at pitching merchandise. Becca wanted this really cool amber neclace, and it looked really good on her. I told her so, not thinking anything of it. She didn't have enough money on her, so I got it for her and she was going to buy my lunch, and also the next time we hang out. The sales girl asked how long we had known each other, and after thinking about it, we've been friends for 16 years. After we walk out of the store, about 5 minutes later, it dawned on me... The sales girl thought Becca was my girlfriend.
I told Becca that, and she busted up laughing. She had picked up on it right away, while I was totally clueless. I mean, we've been friends for forever, and Becca is straight. I just didn't even think of how that would look to an outside person.
For some reason, Becca and I get that all the time, and I don't know why. It must be because we're totally comfortable around each other. Oh well, it was amusing. Also, while we were on the ferry, a guy was totally hitting on Ea in the most obvious way, but he was also trying to be nice and talk to all 4 of us. In the midst of this, Ea offered me some of the trail mix she had, and I turned her down, telling her I was allergic to nuts. Everyone laughed really hard, and Jen said "Awsome gay joke!". After that, the guy completely wrote off Crystal and I (we were standing right next to each other having our own conversation since I hadn't seen her in 3 years) so he thought Crystal and I were dating.. WTF???
Why is it that if you're gay, and you're hanging out with someone of the same gender, you must be dating? Hell, most of my friends are straight.
I told tsuki_yama, and her response was "So, you have 3 girlfriends now?" while she was laughing at me. I caught her on that and made her stutter. We aren't technically dating as she lives so far away, but we aren't interested in anyone else. I'm going to visit her in September, so we'll see how things go...
