hi :D
I just read on your userinfo that you believe that spirituality and sex are closely intertwined...I'd love to hear more about this statement - it's something i've been struggling with for the last while. Do you have any entries pertaining to this, or any websites you could share with me?

Ooh, I could write a lot about this. For me, intense and loving sex is the easiest way to experience the sacredness of the body and the world. I get to places where God/dess is tangible very easily during sex.

Historically, sex has been used to produce religious ecstasy in many cultures (I'm sure you've heard of tantra, for example). Even in cultures that are very sex-negative, like eighteenth-century America, theologians have had to police religious revivals very carefully, because as Jonathan Edwards warned, ecstatic religious worship that leads into hugging and kissing can quickly turn from "Christian love" into "brutish lust"! Sounds to me like the two probably aren't very different. ;)

If you know very little about the subject, this book might be a good place to start. There's also The Shadow Sacrament, a free online journal.
