So Emo Close To Christmas? Gasp!

Negi was still in a sulk after Seishirou.

He was in the library reading for the most part, looking over a book on Christmas holidays for the most part. In Midchilda they didn't really have Christmas per say, but it was close.

Lately though he had been feeling restless, like something needed to be done.

He hoped Zashi was okay.

[Zashi's been doing a lot of sleeping in lately, but that's because she's also been staying up late watching the Christmas specials in the car with the giant TV screens. She didn't celebrate Christmas back home, but it was a holiday she knew and she wanted to learn more.

So far she'd figured out that Reindeer talked, snowmen could come to life with top hats, and some how, some way, some child always managed to save Christmas.

It was all rather confusing. But luckily her late afternoon wandering down the cars has brought her to the library, and Negi.]

Negi!

[Negi looked up, a little surprised at Zashi who had found him in the library car] Zashi, hello. Come to read a little?

Heh, well that would do it. I'm just here reading the story of St. Nicholas myself.

[Zashi blinked and flopped down in a plush chair]

... Christmas confuses me.

How so? The conflicting stories?

Uhuh... [Zashi nods] All those movies... I don't know what it all really means. We don't celebrate Christmas back home...

Ah, all right well to start from the beginning then.

There's two major stories. The first is the Birth of Christ, a religious figure who was said to be the Son of God. He was born on what people believed to be Christmas Day, and is a celebration of mankinds salvation.

The second is the story of St. Nicholas, a young patron of toymakers who went around delivering gifts to children in the European lands during this time of holidays. His name of Saint Nick became the model of Santa Claus. Does that make sense to you?

Oooh! Yes, that makes a lot more sense than talking reindeer and magic top hats!

Ah I see. Those are Christmas stories, designed for the multitudes such as Rudolph and Frosty. I also like the Dr. Seuss take of The Grinch as well.

... The Grinch? I don't think I saw that one...

It's about a Who, a being who lives on a Snowflake who was bitter and miserable and tried to steal Christmas from the Who's by taking their presents and trees, but in the end discovers that the Christmas Spirit was always there.

All right. [opens the book]

All the Who's in Whoville loved Christmas a lot. But the Grinch who lived outside of Whoville... did not.
