Sifting through the manga library!

This is mostly for Jack's benefit, as he will be getting a box of manga in the mail as soon as I decide what I'm sending and whether or not I want to get certain series caught up before I make my little shipment. I'm way behind in most of them, because when I started MMOing I decided having cash for monthly fees was more important than getting my comic fix. There are a few series I've no intention of catching up, but that's because I really didn't read them after the zomg new series! sensation wore off. Ragnarok, Tactics, Excel Saga, I'm looking at you.

Anyway, I know I'm going to send Saiyuki, but I've only got volumes 1-5 right now. That puts me a whopping two volumes behind, so I'll probably catch it up before I send it out.

I'm also a big fan of Samurai Deeper Kyo, but I'm seven volumes behind in that, and another's coming at the beginning of next month. (So's Saiyuki, now that I look. Heh.) Still, it's a good series and I /will/ get caught up eventually. I've got around twenty or twenty-five episodes of the anime, but I haven't been able to find any torrents since I got those, so...no more Kyo anime for me.

Cowboy Bebop: Shooting Star is one of my few finished series. It's only two volumes, so, ur, of course it's finished. I enjoyed it, and am thinking about giving it a quick reread. Have the movie, and it's very good. Even the dub's not so bad. *grin*

Yes, I'm getting all of the Tokyopop series out of the way first. Then I'll get on to Viz, ADV, and Dark Horse.

If you're in the mood for a very cute, somewhat shounen-ai-ish read, I've got Demon Diary finished off too. Of course, I loaned it out to one of the yaoi addicts from HS and have no idea who has possession at the moment. Working on figuring that out, because it's a personal favorite and I'd really like to read it again. For the fifth time.

And then there's Ragnarok which I've got up to volume five and to which you are more than welcome if it tickles your fancy. It's not bad, I just lost interest in it after a while. I may sit down and reread it to see if I can get more involved with the plot, but when I started it I ended up getting distracted by Kyo.

I know, I have a lot of manga. But by my bizarre logic, it's better to get three volumes of manga for thirty bucks than one DVD of anime. And I like reading better anyway. Free to make up my own voices. *grin*

Think that's it for Tokyopop. On to ADV, because that is short. One title. Azumanga Daioh, which I'm rather fond of for reasons completely beyond me. It's funny, if random, and the characters are fairly unique. I've also got all but one or two episodes of the anime courtesy of Peter. The random story of some highschool girls and their teachers might not be up your alley, but eh. I'll throw it out there anyway.

Dark Horse is also easy, cos it's another one-titler. Trigun, vols 1 and 2. It's complete as far as I know, and pretty entertaining. Hellachunky, but ur...it's a graphic novel. So I don't know what I was expecting. *snicker* I've got most if not all of this series burned to CDs somewhere on my spindle. Another fun read. The characters are pretty dynamic (<3<3 Wolfwood) and the art's nice.

Now for Viz. Whee!

I'm eleven volumes behind in Rurouni Kenshin, which means that as much as I love the series I'm very unlikely to catch it up. Alas. It's really a cool story, and I think you would like the main charrie. I have three volumes though, if you want to give it a try, and a few movies/episodes of the anime. The one series I actually blew cash on DVDs for. *snicker*

I don't have it yet, but I'm going to list it anyway because I know I'm a horrible horrible fangirl and I'll end up blowing cash on it at some point. Bleach, which is currently up to volume seven and which I don't own any of yet. I /do/ have all of the epis of the anime, so whee for that. *snuggles Bleach* Come to me, my prescious. *cough* I mean. Ur. Moving on!

Excel Saga is another one of those series that I started but have no intention of finishing. It's funny, and I like the completely random humour in the series, but I've got better things to spend my paychecks on. *cough* Bleach. *cough* Saiyuki. *blows her nose* I've got four volumes if you want to read. If not I may either try to sell them to someone, take 'em to the used bookstore, or ebay 'em.

So, ur, there's my manga library of doom. I didn't include Tactics, which is put out by ADV, because it's fairly stupid and I've only got one volume. It's bookstore fodder.

*scans Viz's Bleach infos* Man it's weird to see characters' names written Western style after hearing them surname, given name for so long. "Huhwah? Rukia Kuchiki? Oh yeah. *headdesk*" One of my issues with Viz is their tendency to bastardize things and change them around to make things kid-friendly. Mah well. If I can drag my maternal unit to a bookstore tonight I'll see how bad the chopping has been done. But really, when it's two dollars cheaper than the other manga companies, I shouldn't complain. Much.

manga, bleach
