a/n: set after season 7; in honor of Veterans Day
“What’cha drawing?” Buffy bounced down onto the sofa beside Dawn.
Dawn blushed, covered the sketchbook with one arm. “You’ll think it’s stupid.”
“Nah. I might think you’re stupid, but that’s a sister thing.” She grinned, and Dawn shrugged and turned the book toward Buffy.
She’d drawn a warrior woman, stake in hand, standing atop a plinth, rendered roughly as if printed from woodcut not pencilled. On the plinth she’d written FOR ALL THE SLAYERS.
“I just thought, y’know -” She gestured. On TV, C-SPAN replayed the wreath-laying at Arlington Cemetery.
“It’s perfect.” Buffy hugged Dawn‘s shoulders. “We‘ll make it happen.”
