The rest of break, the beginning of Charleston, etc.

A brief recapping of the end of my break:

-> New Year's -- got to see Angel and John -- awesome! Angel has a really nice group of friends, so I had a good time hanging out w\ them

-> Mike -- picked him up mid-afternoon on Jan 1st, went to his relatives' house in Mamaroneck (awesome food, beautiful house, really friendly family, and even a BX connection!), went to Manhattan on the 2nd (Old Navy, FAO's closing sale, Schlotzsky's, the Rockefeller tree, driving through the Lincoln Tunnel for the first time, etc.), caught up w\ his parents, came back to NY on the 3rd -- I'm really glad we got to hang out!

-> Misc. stuff -- going to Grandma Rose's for breakfast on the 4th, followed by going to Cherish's for lunch (w\ Joe T. and Jeff -- and she has SUCH a cute apartment!) -- unfortunately, I didn't get to hang out w\ Joe H. :( -- buuuut, Rudy is AWESOME for his help in trying to back up my phone, and hopefully some upcoming phone possibilities... ;)

So yeah, I'm back in Chucktown, after both of my flights were delayed -- I think I got back to base at about 12:15am on the 5th/6th, and didn't go to bed til I was unpacked (I wanted to wake up to a nice, organized room). It's great seeing everyone again (although I haven't seen Brandon yet b/c something was screwy w\ his train ticket) and catching up w\ people! I did a good ol' Walmart run yesterday, and last night was fun just hanging out w\ people -- watching part of Deep Blue Sea, separating my post-holiday postcards, organizing my CDs (there's no way that I'm going on another spike w\ my music!), watching Queer Eye, beating Luke in checkers, Luke & I teasing Mark about "sweeping naked" (inside joke that I was laughing at for about 10 mins) -- yup, it was a fun night (not necessarily cool, though, since they're having over-heating problems in the dorm)!

Today I had to get up early for the van driving training/meeting thingie (which consisted of watching a half-hour video that was made about 15 years ago!), then Phil and I met w\ Angela about CAP stuff. In a little bit, we're doing our "holiday friend" gift exchange, during which I'm gonna share the cookies that Danielle sent me -- SHE KICKS TOTAL BUTT!!!! (Too bad she and the rest of the windy city are having their butts kicked by the super-cold weather! lol :P) Tomorrow is Life After AmeriCorps Day, and I signed up to go to info sessions on the Peace Corps and applying to grad schools, and I'm looking forward to going to the various booths that they're gonna have. Hopefully I'll have a better idea after the day of what to do after July 1st (w\ the exception of going to Angel's wedding)!

Well, that's about it for now -- maybe I'll catch up on writing e-mails to kill some time before we meet!
