Not much a nothin'

Raining and I feel run down. Just sort of headachey, tired and the general ADD. The older I get, the more ADD I think I am. I have trouble sitting still. This might explain the running and tri'ing. Got to get my jujubees out! Not today though, since I feel so weird, though not exercising makes me feel weird too... Oh well.

The radon problem is managed, we are having a contractor come on Monday to give us an estimate, and the sellers will give us a credit on the purchase price to cover the work that needs to be done. So that is dealt with. We should be under contract by the end of the day!! If that happens, I will really start to breathe easy on the actual purchase, so then I can start to muddle over the renovation work that needs to be done.

We went to Zinck's Bar Night at a place in Stamford called Zinc's! Not exactly like old times, but we raised a class to our fair alma mater...

Wednesday, I called renospalace and made her the proposal that she come and be housemates with us once the house is settled enough to hold three people! I don't know if she's going to take us up on it, but she sounded interested, and I would be SO excited if that worked out. Even if the rent is small, it would help us out with our *mortgage* (choke, sputter), it'd be great to have her around to run and ride with, and then of course there's all the PAINTING that will need to get done! And how cool to get to hang out and be roomies again. I want our house to be a gathering place where folks can just come and flop down, hang out or stay over as long as they like, rummage around in the fridge and generally make themselves at home. Having renospalace in the house would be a great start! Obviously, she has to weigh whether being in this part of the world is right for her at this point, but I can always lobby for it! Cross your fingers.

And lastly, I am sad to report on the (timely) demise of Goldilocks the Roach. My Madagascar Hissing Cockroach, courtesy of mshenzi, our erstwhile teammate from the Great Hive Hunt of 2006, has passed into the next dimension of roachly existence. They're supposed to live 12-15 months, don't know how old she was when I adopted her out of the tank full of hundreds of her children and closest friends, but she lived with us for 10+ months, so I figure I gave her a good home. She might have been lonely without her whole tribe, but shepholland was adamantly against any possibility of roach reproduction in the house, so it was a solo existence for her. My cat, Birdy, kept her *company* when she was awake enough to be interesting, but it was a fairly predatory sort of company, so that was not likely too comforting. But she did have a pretty purple bug house. Goldilocks, ye shall not be forgotten!! Adios.
