Hi.
Hopefully ya'll remember me! It's been a while since I posted.
I'd go back and read my last post to see what it was, but I'm afraid it would just depress me!
So I'm just going to write about myself and what I have been up to and see who pays attention!
Haven't lost any weight recently. Haven't gained any either, so there is that.
Haven't written anything in...far too long. On the other hand, I am now responsible for pretty much all the writing panels at an anime convention in November.
They are:
Elements of Good Storytelling: Stuff dealing with how to write. Style, characterization, pacing, etc.
Writing Smut: Same as above, but about smut, because smut deserves to be well-written also.
Inspiration and Writer's Block: If writing is an art, then the how to write is science, and how to deal with inspiration and writer's block is mysticism. I talk with the people in the audience about how to get one and get rid of the other.
Writing non-traditional Haiku: Look, it's the poetry form I'm actually okay at!
Write stories in five
seven five. Poetry does
not have to be hard.
Five Minute Fics: I give people prompts, they write something, then read it out loud, and then I judge them! Fun for everyone!
Round Robin: This one is new, we're going to write a story as a group, one person at a time.
Anime/Manga Writing Game: Also new, I'm going to give people story elements, they will write their "favorite" scene from this new anime, then we'll decide what the anime is to be named.
Fan Fic Contest Meet-Up: I am also the coordinator for the fan fic contest. This is where I meet the contestants, explain what I liked about their stories, and hand out prizes.
I'm rather looking forward to it :)
At Orycon, the weekend before this, I'm also doing some panels, but I don't know which ones, aside from one on writing smut, that I'm doing. Yesterday I also volunteered to do the pre-con planning for Hospitality, because the chair is in dire straights. I am also the Hotel Second. That reminds me, I should talk to my lead about where we are!
Rounding out the convention talk, I am also the head of Events for next year's GameStorm. I was feeling a bit lost and confused, because no one was responding to my email asking them for feedback. Then yesterday I realized I had sent it to the wrong email address. Since fixing that I have received emails back from seven people! Yay!
Health...Friday I stayed home because I was sick. I am glad I have sick days. I sweat out the cold by doing almost everything on my to do list, which also had the benefit of lifting a lot of stress I've been under. When I have things sitting there that I cannot get to, it just...eats at me. I called and made an appointment for my Mammogram (that was fun, they were like, appointments...how about tomorrow? So...yeah, did my Mammogram yesterday!), made an appointment for my next Dental cleaning (I like this "taking care of my teeth" thing. Haven't needed a filling in the last three cleanings!), collected my new countertop dishwasher from the front step (44 lbs and I carried it by myself, woot!), recycled the box, called and arranged for someone to come pick up the old portable that stopped working last week (boo hiss!), moved the portable to the front door (pant, wheeze), took out the trash, and did two loads of laundry (two flights of stairs, yay me!). Holy cow I was hot, tired, and sweaty! But...not sick by Saturday, yay! Finished the night up with a shower, then going for Ramen. LOL
Other health: Also got my feet xrayed on Saturday so my doctor can address my arthritis. I want to be able to walk more so I can lose some weight! *sigh* My diabetes is mostly under control. I have an appointment in a week to check it out and see if we need to adjust my meds again. I also now have computer glasses for use at work. I like the frames better than my regular ones, LOL
Personal life: Well, I'm still not seeing anyone, but I am enjoying having a roommate (most of the time, except when I am trying to write! LOL). We do things like play games, have friends over, go and do things with other friends, and paint nights, and...well, socialize. It's pretty cool, actually :) But that is the primary reason I haven't had time or energy to blog. Sorry! You are all still very important to me, and I do try to read yours!
Work: I've hit my unofficial five year mark...still no promotion. I've kind of given up on it this month. August always just sucks for me, so I'll resume my ambition next month. Or...maybe I'll start looking around. I make less than my roommate, but then I have better benefits, so I'm not certain if I want to look, if you know what I mean?
Trying to wrest my apartment into some semblance of order. It is hard because I get a personal attachment to stuff. But, I'm working on it. My storage and organizational powers are at an all-time high :)
Okay, I've bored you all enough for now :)
Much love to my flist!!
