Wow...I made a list this time and my heavens it is long!
First: Still not employed :( Bummer.
Second: Haven't lost any more weight. Bummer
Third: Still haven't found a romantic partner. Bummer. On the other hand, on my birthday I came out as Straight to my mother. She said she'd suspected it for a very long time. LOL. (There was a meme on Facebook: When did you decide to be straight? Have you come out as Straight to your parents? And another, which I can't remember yet. So, I thought it was time to do so :) Mom was very understanding. Actually, she laughed, because she'd seen my reply to that meme!)
Project completed? Yes! Not the one I started...that one will take more time. But I did plan out and (after recruiting much help) managed to put together a board for Live Action Robo Rally. In case you are not familiar with the board game, you play the part of a programmer who is trying to get your little robot across a factory floor to the goal. The twist is that the Factory is actively trying to kill your robot!
Here is the link to some pictures of it being played at GameStorm 16. I want to make a few improvements, but it is MUCH easier to set up now! You can see some of the fun props people get to use. The programmers are at the table. You know there is trouble when the programmers won't look their robots in the eye...
So what else did I do in March? Well, there was a lot, actually! I did a little pet sitting, some laundry, finally vacuumed all the carpet, hung up a poster, did my recycling, my dishes, cleaned off the treadmill, got a haircut, cleaned up my bedroom, put away my clean clothes, aaaaaaand did a ton of stuff to get ready for GameStorm!
GameStorm It is a gaming convention held every March, here in town. I am on the convention committee which puts it together and does it every year. This year I was Secretary and Hotel Liaison. Usually this means taking a few notes at meetings and answering a couple of emails throughout the year. But in March, I get busy! Had to set up the Guest of Honor dinners, poke a couple of people about BEOs (got poked a few times too! LOL), communicate with the hotel about Staff Rate Rooms, BEOs, mess with table coundts and maps, worry about Open/Close Lists for rooms...plus I signed up to run a couple of games, and then there is the annual Miniature Painting Contest which I run and all the stuff for the Robo Rally game!
AFTER all that...came the convention itself! Mom ran Hospitality...she kept us all fed, bless her! :) She is an amazing person. I described her as an Energizer Bunny. A broken one, yes, but definitely an Energizer Bunny! :) (She has back issues, arthritis, you name it...but she just keeps going!) It's fun to see all those people referring to her as Mom...and then they realize that she actually is mine! LOL...one person complimented me on her. I said, 'thank you, I raised her myself!' LOL!
Of course, while running games (Rampage, Rise of Augustus, Robo Rally, Mini Painting, and Mad Scientist University) and wearing my official headset and radio (people like to talk to me, go figure. Oh, it was because I was the Hotel Liaison! LOL) (the headset was an over the ear model so it didn't interfere with the various items I wore on my head over the four days, like my tiara, my foopy hair and my cat ears!) and getting random hugs from attendees, con staff and hotel staff (seriously, they are such a wonderful crew!)...I was also recruiting. You see, next year I'm CHAIR. Which means I'll be the head honcho trying to keep this whole shebang moving right along! :) Fortunately lots of people stepped up. Mostly to do the same thing...we do this because it is fun, after all :)
Then came...My Birthday! Yup, it is that time of year again! It was lovely. I was doing some housesitting for a couple of friends that week (Hard to have contractors come in if you're at work!) so the actual party was the following day. Wore my
Tiara, the Princess Rule was in effect (Birthday Girl wins all games whether she's playing in them or not!) and there was cake! Chocolate cake, made from scratch, with chocolate ganache filling and chocolate mint buttercream frosting, sprinkled with more chocolate. The Librarian ROCKS the baking! :) On the actual day, I got to spend some time with my mom helping her run an errand (to the coast!) and answering a ton of well wishes on Facebook and Livejournal. All those posts and comments...I appreciate each and every one of them! *hugs everyone*
So...that was my March, more or less! I'm sure I'm leaving out stuff, but that's what I have written down :) Now it is April and...I'm making a new list already! LOL
*hugs and love to you all*
